Rule Number One

Eat a VARIETY of food. Variety means many different foods. Whole grain cereals, breads, rice and pasta; fruits and vegetables; meats, eggs, fish, nuts, chicken; low-fat yogurt, milk, cheese and plenty of water.

Variety also includes different colors:

  • Red - apples, strawberries, watermelon, peppers
  • Yellow - Corn, Squash,
  • Green - Grapes, Broccoli, Cucumber
  • Orange - Cantaloupe, Carrots, Oranges, Pumpkin, Sweet potatoes
  • Purple - Eggplant, Grapes
  • Blue - Blueberries
  • White - Cauliflower, Mushrooms, Beans, Potatoes
