At Ashland we learned about the identification and classification of insects. Below you will find some information on the identification of insects and some photos of us on our insect expedition.

IDENTIFICATION OF INSECTS

How can you identify an insect?

An adult insect has the following:

1. Three body parts: the head, thorax, and abdomen

2. One pair of antennae

3. Six legs

If it doesn't fit these characteristics, it is probably an arthropod. Arthropods include spiders, ticks, mites, the roly-poly, the centipedes and pretty much everything else.
