Hillendale Student Visits
White House
My name is Victoria Ibrahim. I am
in fifth grade this year. My brother Jeremy and I went
to the East Room in the White House On October 12 to
support our country after the terrorist attacks on
September 11.
On October 12 all the schools in
the United States planned to recite the "Pledge of
Allegiance" and sing the national anthem at 2:00 PM. My
brother and I led the "Pledge" of Allegiance" with two
students from Houston, Texas. Our president, George W.
Bush, made a speech that told us that terrorism would not
cause our country to fall apart.
A group of Hispanic American
recording artists, led by Gloria Estefan, sang for the
first time, "Los Ultimos Dias," (The Final Days). The
song was dedicated to the victims of the September 11,
2001 terrorist attacks.
The president signed an Executive
Order on Excellence in Education. When he signed the
Executive Order I was looking over his shoulder, and my
brother was right next to him!
