Hillendale Fifth Grade
Visits
Burrow's Run Preserve
Students participated in two
different programs led by guides from Ashland. In the
aquatic ecology program, students used nets to collect
plant and animal life from the Burrow's Run stream.
Students also learned about what we can do to keep our
waterways clean. Students particularly enjoyed nature
photography where they learned some basics about
photography. During this program students worked in
small groups to take pictures of nature with Polaroid
cameras. Each student framed one of his/her favorite
pictures and wrote an accompanying haiku. Most
students gave this field trip "two-thumbs up."Thank
you to Jais H. and Matt B. for their help in the photo
selection process and feedback from
students.
