Hillendale Learns About Abraham Lincoln On Thursday January 22, 2004 Hillendale students grades 2-5 went to the "new" Chadds Ford Elementary School to see and learn about Abe Lincoln. Did you know he's on the penny? Abe didn't get to go to school much like we do, but he knew how to read and he knew a little bit about how to write. Abe LOVED books! He was also very tall. President Lincoln hated slavery and always tried to stop it. Abraham Lincoln became President Lincoln in 1860. Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States. President Lincoln was shot and killed by John Wilkes Booth at Ford's Theater in Washington, D.C. April 15th, 1865. The actor who portrayed Abe Lincoln is Richard Waddingham.
