Captain Metcalf Visits
Hillendale
On Tuesday, December 2, 2003
Captain Metcalf came to Hillendale. Captain Metcalf is
the brother of Mrs. Smith our Art teacher here at
Hillendale. Captain Metcalf spoke with the fourth and
fifth grade students about Iraq and it's people. His
presentation was very informative. We learned about a hat
that Captain Metcalf brought with him called a "beret."
When a person in the armed forces wears a beret it means
they are a paratrooper. Captain Metcalf is a paratrooper
who was trained to parachute (jump out) of airplanes with
his gear and equipment to set up remote hospitals to help
our soldiers and the people of Iraq. Captain Metcalf's
presentation was very interesting to see!
