Hillendale Art in Action

Above is the 4th and 5th Grade Art in Action Project.  The students recreated the famous painting titled "An Afternoon at La Grande Jatte" by Georges Seurat.  It is a post impressionist painting that utilizes a technique known as "pointillism," in which the artist uses dot like strokes of pure color. The children worked from October to January to finish their masterpiece.  Please view this Hillendale masterpiece between the nurse's office and Mr. Picard's room the next time you visit Hillendale.

The cartoon below seemed particularly appropriate given how long it took us to complete the project. The cartoon came from the CLICK magazine October 2004 issue. About Click: CLICK opens up a universe of wonder by introducing kids to the world that's all around them. CLICK is about the sciences, nature and the environment. Produced by the editors of LADYBUG, CLICK is written so that children will love the challenge of new learning.
