Hillendale Outdoor Classroom
Hillendale received a generous $8,000.00 grant from
the Unionville-Chadds Ford Educational Foundation for the
construction of an "Outdoor Classroom." The goal of this
project is to create a readily accessible natural area
where teachers can bring their students to study nature.
We will have several Saturday workdays to build a fence
around the pond and to erect some benches and student
work areas. Then we will begin to plant. There will be
opportunities for all classes to get involved in some
planting as the project moves forward. All Hillendale
students will be planting red tulips and yellow daffodils
in the area as part of our Red Ribbon Week activities
here at Hillendale.
The Saturday work days planned are:
Oct. 2 - Setting posts, (NO children please)
Oct. 16 - Building fence, and benches, putting out top
soil, (ALL invited)
Oct. 23 - Planting Day, (ALL invited)
We will usually start at around 8:30 and go until 12
or so.
Below are some photos of the Saturday, October 2, 2004
work session.
