"Ninth Annual Chester County Recycling Contest"

Over the past month the students at Hillendale have been working on their entries for the Chester County Recycling Contest. This year the objective was to promote recycling awareness among the school population and their families. The children had to create an illustration showing "Dudley-Do-Rot" (the composting mascot) in a composting activity.

We discussed what composting is and ways to demonstrate this concept in an illustration. The students were very eager to begin.

Each school can send only one entry for each grade level. Hillendale will only be able to send one entry for fourth grade and one entry for fifth grade. This past week the students voted on another classes posters, selecting the "best" one. This week they will be voting on the 12 winners from 4th grade and 12 winners from 5th grade. This is how we will decide who the grade level entries will be for Hillendale. The 24 winners at this point are still unknown to all the students so that the voting remains somewhat unbiased.

Everyone did an excellent job! Good Luck to the remaining winners.
