Beluga / Bowhead / Killer / Minke / Narwhal / Pilot / Sei / Sperm

PARTICIPATE in our project by voting for your favorite whale. This project is an effort to build an awareness of whales, their behaviors, and population status in the world, and to determine which whale is the most popular among children and adults. Results will be shared on this page weekly, from March 9th through April 3rd, 1998. Check every Monday.

This project invites participants to research and choose their favorite whale from among the eight species presented. Information available through this project includes interesting facts, descriptions of the whales, and drawings. Click on the whale images above to see this information.

To PARTICIPATE, individuals or classes vote and submit the data via WHALE MAIL here (mknauer@ucf.k12.pa.us). Participants are encouraged to submit WHY they chose their whale. The results will be displayed each week for four weeks and a winner will be declared on April 6th. A summary of the results will be published by April 15th, 1997.

This project grew out of our fifth grade gifted support class' study of the Voyage of the Mimi, an interdisciplinary program which focuses on whales, whaling, sailing, and the ocean. Students chose a species of whale, researched it, wrote and delivered speeches about the whale, made campaign posters, and voted. The top seven favorites are presented in this project.
